2,011 kilos of cocaine seized in the port of Algeciras

The cocaine was found in a container from Ecuador that declared frozen hake

The drug was distributed in 1,741 pills that were hidden in two pallets of the container








The Civil Guard and the Tax Agency have seized 2,011 kilos of cocaine in an action carried out in the port of Algeciras.

The operation began when, within the framework of controls on containers from South America that are usually carried out by the Algeciras Customs Risk Analysis Unit (UAR), it was learned of the arrival in Algeciras of various pieces of equipment from Ecuador that, after a meticulous risk analysis, it was assessed that in some of them a narcotic substance could be found camouflaged.

Civil guards and Customs Surveillance officials of the Tax Agency, who work together in the UAR, proceeded to recognize said equipment where they found in one of the containers 1,741 hidden pills that contained a white substance and mealy presentation, which tested positive to the 'narcotest' for cocaine.

In total, 1,741 pills were seized, with an approximate gross weight of more than 2,011 kilos of cocaine.

The proceedings and the drug have been made available to the head of the Court of Algeciras on duty.
