Ábalos has shown his satisfaction after confirming that Renfe, a railway operator under his Ministry, has won the largest contract ever awarded to a Spanish public company and that carries with it the design, construction and maintenance of the AVE between Houston and Dallas.
"Renfe is consolidated as one of the main railway operators in the world," being the operator in charge of drawing the first high-speed line in the US, said Ábalos.
The minister said that this news is what "prestige our engineering, the ability to compete from our public companies", and make the "Spain brand" grow.
In addition, he stressed that events of this magnitude "show that we live in a great country that enjoys great international prestige" and that it is worth working for him.
This alliance, of which Renfe has already signed a pre-agreement and whose contract is being drafted, will link Renfe with the world's largest private equity rail operator, Central Texas, until 2042.
