The jury of the Prizes for the Best Artistic Binding for 2019 has proposed the awarding of the prizes to the following bookbinders: Juan Antonio Fernández Argenta, first prize (endowed with 6,000 euros), for the binding presented under the slogan ADNAMA; Ángel Peinado Ursino, second prize (endowed with 4,000 euros), for the binding presented under the motto Duo; and M. Mar Ruiz de Pascual Gutiérrez, third prize (endowed with 2,000 euros), for the binding presented under the motto Juana.
Likewise, the jury has declared finalists the works presented under the slogans Duermevela, by Andrés Pérez-Sierra Rodríguez; Holganza, by Julia Díaz-Malaguilla Agustín; and Life, by Mónica Gil Sanvicente.
The prize is convened annually and aims to award the best artistic bindings, in order to stimulate and recognize the work of artists in this field. In this edition, the prize was intended to bind the works. Nobody cries for me anymore by Sergio Ramírez (Prize for Literature in Spanish Language 'Miguel de Cervantes' 2017) and Poetry gathered for Ida Vitale (Prize for Literature in Spanish Language' Miguel de Cervantes' 2018). In this call the jury has assessed a total of 16 works admitted to the competition.
The jury has been chaired by Begoña Cerro Prada, deputy director general for the Promotion of the Book, Reading and Spanish Letters of the Ministry of Culture and Sports. The following members have been present: at the proposal of the Federation of Publishers' Guilds of Spain, Maria Cruz Moreno Sáinz-Pardo; by the National Library of Spain, Fuensanta Salvador López; the winner of the first prize of the 2018 call of the year, Manuel Valero Mor; the winner of the second prize of the 2018 call of the year, Luis Antonio Mínguez Serrano; the winner of the third prize of the 2018 call of the year, Ángel Gómez Pinto; Marta Torres Santo Domingo, specialist in applied arts and in the preparation of the book; and Jesús González González, deputy general director of the General Subdirectorate for the Promotion of the Book, Reading and Spanish Letters.
