The GPCs deputy spokesperson criticizes the government 'trying to divide up the judges among the Frankenstein majority partners'
"The reform of the Judiciary proposed by PSOE and Podemos does not guarantee the division of powers, democratic regeneration or the fight against corruption," said the deputy spokesman for the Citizens Parliamentary Group (GPCs), Edmundo Bal, at a press conference in the Congress of Deputies. "The infamy is confirmed, they want to give the renewal of the General Council of the Judicial Power to the Frankenstein majority," said the orange deputy in reference to the announcement made this morning by PSOE and Podemos.
"The objective of this Law is to further politicize the appointment of the members of the General Council of the Judiciary," Bal has denounced. The deputy spokesperson of the GPCs has assured that “it is not true that there are only two options as Sánchez says” and recalled that “Cs presented a reform of the Organic Law of the Judicial Power so that the election of the 12 members of judicial extraction could be carried out directly judges and magistrates ”. "The reform proposed by my party is in accordance with the indications of the European Commission, with the ruling of the Constitutional Court of 1986, which is what the text of our own Constitution imposes and, in addition, it is the one that the majority of associations of judges and magistrates ”, he added.
Likewise, the Cs deputy wanted to convey his support to Judge Manuel García-Castellón who "with great courage investigates the Kitchen case and the Dina case" and has announced that the Citizens Parliamentary Group has registered "a question to the Government about the attacks and threats ”that this judge has suffered on social networks.
Regarding the parliamentary activity of Ciudadanos, Bal has also explained that the liberal party is going to question the Minister of Universities, Manuel Castells, in the Control Session of the Government to explain "how he is going to guarantee the political neutrality of the universities after of the Autonomous University of Barcelona was sentenced for carrying out separatist propaganda ”.
