The president of the Popular Party of the Valencian Community, Isabel Bonig, has affirmed today that the Popular Party “is the party of the water pact”, and has pointed out that the Tajo-Segura memo “is an example of how all the affected communities and with different interests they knew how to yield to reach an agreement and that the Spanish Southeast had the necessary water, maintaining the ecological flows and generating wealth and employment ”.
Bonig has pronounced this way after the meeting held this morning with the president of the Valencian Association of Farmers (AVA), Cristóbal Aguado, and its board of directors, a meeting in which the problems of the sector have been addressed and also attended by PPCV Agriculture and Environment spokespersons in Les Corts, Miguel Barrachina and Elisa Díaz.
The president of the PPCV has expressed concern "for sectarianism and dogmatism that has been established in the Government of Spain, which does not comply with the memorandum." Thus, he recalled that we already have two agreements “where the agreements of the Technical Commission are not being respected, where there is only a transfer for human consumption but not for agriculture, and if that continues, it will be the death of agriculture and a economic potential and a way of life of thousands and thousands of families in Spain ”.
Bonig has indicated that the popular do not want to prosecute the transfers, and has indicated that “who has opened this war is García Page, president of Castilla-La Mancha and before the passivity of Ximo Puig we had to leave to appeal as Murcia and Andalusia". The president of the PPCV has explained that the president of the Diputación de Alicante, Carlos Mazón, has created the Mesa del Agua invited to Andalusia and Murcia and that the Diputación de Valencia will also be invited. "I think it is good that we all go hand in hand, here it is not about going against Castilla-La Mancha, but about dividing all of us and reaching a balance so that we all win," he said.
HELPS THAT DO NOT ARRIVE
On the other hand, Bonig has indicated that the Government of Sánchez and the Consell de Puig "are punishing the south of the Valencian Community", and has expressed concern about the announcement of aid that does not arrive. “The DANA aid they promised does not arrive, the Tajo-Segura water does not arrive and the necessary hydraulic infrastructures do not arrive. It is very serious, ”he said. “This is a government of announcements and of little management and the null management in agricultural matter is seen. Two years ago there was an important frost in the area of La Ribera in which eight million euros of aid for persimmon were promised and has not been fulfilled. Nothing has arrived, and we will see what happens with the aid to Vega Baja ”.
Bonig has demanded "presence of the Valencian administration, aid and alternatives", and said that farmers "complain because they say they feel abandoned by the administration."
