The firm of the wood industry sector RIBSA has supposed the visit number 5,000 of those made by the Department of Occupational Risk Prevention (PRL) of the Confederation of Business Associations of Burgos (FAE), within the framework of fifth agreement for the Prevention of Occupational Risks in Castilla y León, which the Confederation develops in collaboration with the Junta de Castilla y León and the trade union centers.

Located in the municipality of Huerta del Rey, RIBSA is dedicated to the production of reels and wooden packaging and has a workforce of about forty workers, and the visit of the PRL technician of FAE has led to the number 220 of those made this year and the number 5,000 since this program began, in the month of June 2003.

The visits consist of conducting a risk assessment to companies and advising on occupational safety in its four preventive disciplines: safety, hygiene, occupational medicine and ergonomics and psychosociology.

The visits of the fifth agreement for the PRL are complemented by the work of the Department of Prevention of FAE in other areas such as its project FAE Healthy, aimed at promoting healthy life and work habits, and with its Addiction Prevention Program in the Workplace.

V Agreement for the Prevention of Occupational Risks in Castilla y León

Through this agreement, whose last renewal was signed on January 28, 2016 and will cover until 2020, different advisory actions and visits to companies in the province of Burgos are carried out, in order to promote Risk Prevention. In 2019, 220 visits were made to companies, from all sectors of economic activity, with special attention to the bakery, agriculture, hairdressers, local administrations, storage companies with special risks, musculoskeletal disorders in the transport and hospitality sector , machines in the wood sector and those with CNS with the highest accident rate, in 16 municipalities in the province of Burgos.

In addition, through this agreement in 2016 a specific program for the forestry sector for prevention advice was initiated, which addresses the particularities of this specific economic activity. Initiative that in this 2019 has begun in the summer campaign coinciding with the greatest fire risk.

FAE Healthy

During 2019 FAE is carrying out an action plan aimed at improving the health of the staff of the Burgos companies, with the aim of improving their well-being and, therefore, their performance.

In addition to the dissemination of the advantages of adopting healthy life and work habits, the program is completed with the celebration of training sessions and pills that help in the integration of these habits in the day-to-day activities of companies.

Addiction Prevention Program in the Workplace

Prevention of Addictions in the Labor Field is a program with which FAE, in collaboration with unions, Proyecto Hombre and the two sponsoring entities of the program, Cajacírculo Foundation and Ibercaja, has created a meeting point to try to act on a problem, the of addictions in the workplace, to work to minimize it as much as possible.

The approach to the prevention of addictions in the workplace requires, and for this, this initiative is being carried out, of specific strategies and actions in which the involvement of both companies and workers and unions is necessary, as of the occupational risk prevention services and, frequently, of other external and social organizations.

The project tries to develop a program that marks a preventive strategy and intervention in addictions such as the consumption of alcohol and other drugs, new technologies, gambling, etc. in the workplace, whose objective is to advance in the establishment of protocols for action with which companies can intervene and act in situations of risk caused by excesses or abuses.
