- It joins Valencia, Galicia, Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha, Aragón and Murcia
- Until now the integration of more than fifty regional commercial offices has been signed
The Secretary of State for Commerce, Jaime García-Legaz, and the President of Cantabria, Ignacio Diego, have signed, today in Santander, an agreement to integrate the commercial offices abroad of this Community in the State network accompanied by the Minister of Innovation, Industry, Tourism and Commerce of Cantabria, Eduardo Arasti. This Autonomous Community has two commercial offices located in Mexico City and Tianjin (China) whose integration process will begin this year.
In addition to the savings in economic terms that this measure will entail for Cantabria, around 60,000 euros per year, this Community will henceforth have better coordination and complementarity with the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness in matters of foreign promotion and with the support of the State network of commercial offices around the world in order to support Cantabrian companies in the internationalization process.
With Cantabria, there are already seven Autonomous Communities that have signed integration agreements for their respective promotion offices abroad in response to the Government's integration proposal, which García-Legaz put on the table at the meeting of the Inter-Territorial Council for Internationalization held last February. It joins Valencia, Galicia, Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha, Aragón and Murcia, with a total of 52 offices whose integration, already committed, will begin this year. The rest will do so as the rental commitments as well as the logistics of the State office allow it.
The Secretary of State for Commerce continues to work with other Autonomous Communities, such as the Canary Islands, to sign agreements soon that will lead to the integration of their respective offices.
The integration of the regional commercial offices in the State network is part of the measures to promote the internationalization of the Government, among which is the improvement of coordination to avoid duplication between the different organizations that support internationalization. The measure will allow the Autonomous Communities to reduce costs in support work for the internationalization of their companies and is also aimed at achieving the best coordination in actions abroad of the State and the Autonomous Communities and reinforcing the image of Spain abroad.
