The head of the opposition insists on 'a constitutional coalition' for the elections in Catalonia 'to make a' reset 'in the Catalan institutions'

"With the sentence to Quim Torra has won the freedom and equality of all before the law." This has been said by the head of the opposition and president of the group of Citizens (Cs) in the Parliament of Catalonia, before the judgment of the Supreme Court that dismisses the appeal presented by Torra on his disqualification as president issued by the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC). Carrizosa recalled that "Citizens denounced Torra because he took advantage of his status as president to use public buildings as a showcase for separatist slogans in the middle of the electoral period" and has asked, before possible elections in the coming months, "a constitutional coalition to hold a ' reset 'in the Catalan institutions ”.

The head of the opposition considers that a new constitutionalist government "would be the real change" that Catalonia needs in order to put an end to the "procés". For this reason, he has asked the president of the Parliament, Roger Torrent, "to propose an alternative candidate to the plenary session" so that the institutions in Catalonia are not blocked. Along these lines, Carrizosa has already announced "contacts with the opposition parties to guarantee a response and that Catalonia is not blocked in times of pandemic."

The orange leader, before the sentence to Torra, recalled that "no distinctions can be made between ordinary citizens and politicians" because "we are all obliged to respect the laws" and has regretted that "despite the sentences that politicians fall separatists still do not accept it ”. "Today he wins freedom because a member of the executive power cannot mock the judiciary," he pointed out and ended by adding that "Torra acknowledged in court that he broke the laws and thought that because he was president, nothing was going to happen to him. ”.
