Written by Susana Monteagudo and illustrated by Marta Colomer. A fantastic guide (illustrated, as we said) that brings together great bands and classic moments. A way to discover or simply remember the great characters that have made this genre what it is. Surely more than one and one has to get a handkerchief when it reaches the pages dedicated to Bowie or Amy. Rock is an excuse for rebellion and this is reflected in the book. Discovering its evolution and fusion with other genres will be easy and enjoyable through this book.

World Rock Day: Books to feel the rhythm in the veins_Chronics RockOur strongest bet, sitting on the drums, is Chronicles of rock, by David Roberts. Make fabulous triplets reviewing the history of each formation, its sound and the different signatures that managed them. Because everyone knows the Motown, but few more record labels are known. Everything is combined with box beats, gathering the key moments to understand the consecration of each group. It will be necessary to be alert to the double pedal!

When coming to the world, a August 12, 1866, in Madrid convulso of the time, it was difficult to predict that the child, the youngest of the three children of the renowned pediatrician Mariano Benavente, would end up being the second Spanish to get a Noble Prize for Literature.

It was in 1922, a few years before, in 1904, José Echegaray had been the first to achieve it. The history of literature, not always just, has engulfed many authors, and Echegaray has been relegated, despite the award, to the background. Fortunately, this has not been the case Jacinto Benavente, that son of a doctor who wrote some of his best lines for the theater.

Benavente studied law at the Central University of Madrid, fulfilling the wishes of his father, although, upon his death, he abandoned them to devote himself to travel -especially for France and Russia- and, above all, he began to unleash his great passion: Literature.

For some time, however, it was circus businessman and, even, it has been written that at that time he drank the winds by an English trapeze artist named Bella Geraldine – the biographies of many well-known characters almost always include some surprising chapter.

His first works were a book of poems, Verses, a storybook, Villains, and a work of criticism, Letters from women, all published in 1893. Four years later, he premiered his first play, The alien nestwhat was Crushed by criticism. In fact, only Azorín, he valued it.

This bumpy debut in the theater, convinced Benavente that the situation of the Spanish scene of the time advised leaning for works closer to the taste of the general public instead of committing to a style, perhaps more demanding, but inevitably minority and misunderstood.

The great contribution of Jacinto Benavente is that, despite everything, was able to modernize the theater that was made in Spain. Names like D'Annunzio, Wilde, Ibsen and Bernard Shaw, They triumphed on the stages of half Europe, and their gateway to the peninsula was through their influences on the works of the Madrid-born author.

His theater breathes variety, is a full gallery of human types. He tackled almost all genres: tragedy, comedy, drama, sainete. And he also dared with all kinds of environments: the rural and the urban, the commoner and the aristocrat.

All of them, described from a sharp social satire, with live and dynamic dialogues. Works as Saturday night (1903), scenic novel impregnated with poetry; The vested interests (1907), skilful combination of satire and humor; o Señora Ama (1908) and La Malquerida (1913), both rural drama, are just some examples of their ability to jump from one style to another.

With barely thirty years old he was already a well-known author and, after fighting with Valle-Inclán, another one of the greats of the Spanish theater of the time, in the Café Madrid gathering, formed his own at the Cervecería Inglesa de la Carrera de San Jerónimo. Member of the Royal Spanish Academy, he also got involved in politics – he held a seat in the Congress of Deputies in 1918 – and in 1933 he co-founded the Association of Friends of the Soviet Union.

Man of strong and controversial personality, was able to ingratiate himself with the Popular Front Government during the Civil war, who honored him on several occasions. And precisely because of this, after the Franco victory, his proximity to the Republican side during the armed confrontation led him to be observed with magnifying glass by the dictatorship.

It even went so far as to allow the staging of his works but without indicating that they were his. He happened to be, simply, «the author of La Malquerida».

Over time, and after that Benavente It will be seen in the Plaza de Oriente in Madrid, in the great demonstration in favor of the 1947 regime, Francoist authorities gave a surprising twist to his vision of the Nobel Prize who became "our illustrious theatrical author." As he says Crispin, the protagonist of Vested interests, "in life more important than creating affections is to create interests"

We spoke with Eva Collado Durán, author of the book The world changes, and you? and adviser and lecturer dedicated to helping organizations in the process of change based on the innovation and digitalization of their teams.

It does not escape anyone that the working world has changed. The so-called digital revolution has marked a before and after in our society, the economy, our lives and, of course, the way we work. Artificial intelligence, mobile internet and a long etcetera have thrown us into an environment of constant change marked by flexibility, work mobility, creativity and constant learning.

In his book, Eva Collado Durán He tells us how all this has created an uncertain and complex environment to which we have to adapt so as not to be left behind.

– There is a lot of talk about the digital transformation that our society is going through – including employment – but what has really changed since our parents' generation?

Everything has changed everything … We are in an unprecedented era of change of which we are witnesses of exception, the arrival of Internet and new technologies lead us to a new way of being and doing, in just 230 years we have gone from the first industrial revolution to the fourth.

The way of relating (from the real offline world to the online virtual world) has changed, that of seeing the world (in an almost local to global way), the way of learning (from the traditional school to social learning), the way of working (from the presence in the workplace to be able to work from your own home), the way to sell (from the grocery store of all life to buy online), etc.

The world has changed, we are one click away from any person in the world and in our hands is adopting this new environment managing the change, not as a problem but as the opportunity to make things different and better.

– What margin of maneuver do the workers have in this scenario of constant change?

We are in a volatile, uncertain, changing and ambiguous environment and this is the reality with which we have to live together on a daily basis: new situations, new problems and new solutions are opened every minute.

The room for maneuver is infinite if we know how to take advantage of this whole new world. We never had easier to relate to other people and projects, or to learn; But that entails a lot of work, curiosity, desire and a high commitment to our own employability for the future.

Whoever thinks that the titles he won in the past will open the doors of the future is wrong … Today the game has changed and only the desire to learn and acquire digital competence to develop in our jobs are the key.

– In your book you tell us about the personal brand, what is it and how is it worked?

The development of the personal brand is one of the best professional assets we can have today. So I define it in The world changes, and you?:

Personal brand: It is all that we are, we do, we say, we think and we share; as well as the value that we are able to generate in others.

It is the sum of our values and how we are valued by the environment.

It is the impact of the footprint that we leave on the path of our personal and professional life.

They are all those actions that precede us (they speak for us without being present) and open doors to third parties because they want to keep us close and count on us in their life, environment and projects.

It is a strategy and a path to travel that assures us of the present and leads us to the future in which we wish to be.

In short, you are your brand and your essence, you and your know-how, you and your experience, you and your world of relationships, you and your ability to work it in time to make it grow and to become the chosen option.

– What would you say to those people who are not familiar with the digital world? Are they going to stay out of the labor market?

That it's never too late to start; It is never too late to embrace this new world. Only from constant learning can we achieve it, developing the desire to continue learning daily. There are no excuses knowledge was never as accessible to everyone as it is today.

Digital competence can be acquired, and as professionals of the 21st century we must empower ourselves in this way, without waiting for us to form the company, but taking the reins of this learning from the desire, curiosity and focusing on what we really need for the development of our profession.

– Who is this book for?

My goal is to make known what is the new professional environment and the new demands that are presented today to keep us employable in the market; either within the companies where you develop your activity, if you decide to undertake, if you face a first job or decide to opt for any other form of professional collaboration.

Five chapters Five objectives Five adventures Five challenges Let's go!
