The CEOE CEO, Antonio Garamendi, and the president of the Spanish Global Compact Network, Ángel Pes, have signed a Collaboration agreement to work on the dissemination and promotion of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Spanish business organizations and in the private sector.

The Spanish businessmen seek with this agreement to promote the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations in the business fabric, since its application will generate new opportunities and efficiency improvements, promoting innovation and sustainability. This will make more rational use of resources, which will benefit the economy of the companies that are involved with the SDGs.

Along these lines, the CEOE CEO said that "the 2030 Agenda is to put the person at the center of things" and that "the company has to lead the implementation of the SDGs".

The president has referred to SDG number 17 and the importance of creating alliances for the development of these Objectives, as is the case with this agreement. "Now is the time for partnerships because we have to work together to publicize the Agenda," he said.

For his part, the president of the Spanish Global Compact Network has explained that “we can only transform the economy and markets by changing the way companies do and understand business, we need companies that seek not only economic profitability, but also the generation of positive social and environmental impacts for the planet ”.
