Chinese government authorities intervened today in CEOE in the X edition of the Asia Innova Program, under the slogan “How to connect with the innovative ecosystem in China”. The president of the Committee for the Promotion of Entrepreneurship of CEOE and president of CEAJE, Fermín Albadalejo, participated in the event; the general secretary of the Spain-China Council Foundation, Carlos Morales; the director of the Casa Asia-Madrid center, Carmen Díez; and the Minister of Culture of the People's Republic of China in Spain, Liu Wenqiu.

During the Meeting, the representatives of the Torch High Technology Industry Development Center, Wang Yandong and the Department of External Technological Action of the Subdirectorate of Technological Cooperation and Direction of Evaluation and Technological Cooperation of CDTI, Carlos Quintana, also participated.

The meeting, organized by CEOE, in collaboration with Casa Asia and the Spain-China Council Foundation, aims to explain the functioning of the innovative ecosystem in the Asian country; the possibilities of collaboration between Spanish startups with Chinese incubators for the development of their projects in this market; and connect to incubators and research centers in both countries.

The session was attended by representatives of the Institute of Next by Infonomia and two of China's main incubators: the TusStar incubator, the main incubator of the University of Tsinghua (Beijing), and the Jingchen Ruida Incubation Center of Science and Technology, incubator of the Beijing's main industrial and technological development zone. In addition, representatives of the Torch program, from the Yantai Technology Development Zone and companies from various industrial sectors, helped to better understand how the innovative ecosystem works in China.

CEOE proposals

The president of the Committee for the Promotion of Entrepreneurship of CEOE and president of CEAJE, Fermín Albadalejo, stressed that both R + D + i and digitalization are essential elements to boost the internationalization processes of Spanish companies. For this reason, he pointed out several proposals, such as launching a true shock plan for R & D & I, which allows Spanish companies to develop innovative projects and strengthen the continuity and legal certainty associated with tax incentives for activities of R&D.

Likewise, it influenced the support for the transfer of technology, in order to facilitate the permeability towards the productive fabric and the research society; He also spoke of facilitating the protection of innovation by companies through intellectual property; promote innovative public procurement as an element of innovation traction; and foster innovative culture in companies.

As regards the People's Republic of China, Fermín Albadalejo, considered that the Asian country has become a benchmark for its outstanding achievements in the field of innovation, science and technology. In fact, "the cloning from somatic cells, the launch of the world's first quantum satellite and the creation of the fastest supercomputers on the planet, are good proof of that," he said.

Albadalejo stressed that entrepreneurs have the conviction that, not only in Spain but worldwide, it is necessary to strengthen the commitment to innovation and digitalization of our economy for its direct effects on productivity, competitiveness and welfare levels of the society. “From CEOE we consider that digitalization and the commitment to innovation are not an option, but a necessity ”, said.

Asia Innova Program

The general secretary of the Spain-China Council Foundation, Carlos Morales, stressed that bilateral relations between Spain and China have evolved considerably, taking a huge qualitative leap in the last decade. He also pointed out that innovation and technology are fundamental in the programs carried out by the Foundation. In this regard, he added that They have created a network of talent, connector workshops and have focused on key aspects such as 5G or artificial intelligence.

The director of the Casa Asia-Madrid center, Carmen Díez, highlighted that this is the X edition of the Asia Innova Program, which was launched in 2004 and seeks to promote bilateral relations and offer and report on progress in the region. Díez reported that China will invest 2.5% of its GDP in research and development this year, it is the first country to apply for patents and invest a large sum of money in the creation of startups.

The cultural advisor of the People's Republic of China in Spain, Liu Wenqiu, highlighted the role that the Chinese government played in giving greater importance to technological advances and stressed that there are 6,500 creative spaces that generate numerous jobs in the country and represent a Great support for the improvement of the economy. He also reported a new state platform to boost artificial intelligence and referred to the Chineka project, which It aims to enhance collaboration in the field of innovation between the two countries.

Innovative ecosystem in China

The representative of the Torch High Technology Industry Development Center, Wang Yandong reviewed the advances that have been generated in innovation in China, talked about the latest trends in the sector and highlighted opportunities for collaboration in projects of common interest.

Yandong highlighted the policies that have been implemented in the country to promote innovation, by increasing technology transfer or increasing the number of companies through competitions. He also reported that there are 221 incubators in China, which have launched 358 projects and 29 foreign incubators.

Bilateral technological cooperation

The head of the Department of External Technological Action in the Subdirectorate of Technological Cooperation of the Directorate of Evaluation and Technological Cooperation of CDTI, Carlos Quintana, stressed that cooperation is essential for the internationalization of companies.

He also explained that the CDTI has financed 26,000 projects directly and indirectly, an average of 1,500 projects per year. To finance projects, the main condition is that there is a technological development for the company. Finally, he referred to Chineka, a joint project of the Chinese and Spanish administration, to help improve technological knowledge and cited some examples in the field of health care and Smart Technology. “We have developed 45 projects in thirteen years, in which 66.8 million euros have been mobilized,” iHe informed.
