Given the deliberate lack of explanations from the interior minister after the Council of Ministers was held, the Popular Party demands that the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, immediately remove Fernando Grande-Marlaska.

The arbitrary dismissal of Colonel Diego Pérez de los Cobos, for maintaining the independence and integrity of the Civil Guard in a judicial investigation that directly affects the Government of the Nation, represents the most serious attack on the independence of the judiciary that occurred in Spain in the last years.

In addition, this cessation has opened an unprecedented crisis within the armed institution that has led to the resignation of the Operational Deputy Director of the Civil Guard, General Laurentino Ceña, who heads this institution at a critical moment for Spain.

It is an insult that Sánchez wants to cover the arbitrary dismissal of the person responsible for the judicial investigation into his negligence on March 8, with the salary comparison that the PP approved two years ago and that, until today, has refused to pay.

From the Popular Party we want to reaffirm our support and consideration for the work that the State Security Forces and Bodies, specifically the Civil Guard, perform for the benefit of all Spaniards.
