4 people have been arrested and 121 kg of high-purity cocaine have been seized
The Civil Guard and the Tax Agency have foiled the gang's attempt to establish another drug entry point in Bilbao
The Civil Guard and the Tax Agency, within the framework of the ACLIS operation, have dismantled a criminal organization dedicated to international drug trafficking through the port of Barcelona. Four people have been arrested in the operation and 121 kilograms of high-purity cocaine have been seized.
The operation began as a result of the merchandise controls carried out by the Civil Guard and the Tax Agency in the port of Barcelona. During one of these controls, last March, a group of punching machines was detected in containers from Colombia, inside which 121 kilograms of cocaine were hidden.
A joint investigation team was created to join forces, made up of agents from the Organized Crime and Anti-Drug Team of the Organic Unit of the Judicial Police of the Civil Guard of Barcelona and the Deputy Directorate of Customs Surveillance (DAVA) of the Tax Agency.
Thanks to the investigation, it was learned that the criminal organization that had orchestrated the shipment of cocaine was modifying the entry route of its shipments, opening a new route of entry, in this case by air through the Bilbao airport.
In the month of April, a component of the criminal gang, with domicile in that same city, was arrested in Santander for the alleged commission of the crimes of drug trafficking and belonging to a criminal organization, whose function in the same was to receive shipments and hide the drug.
During the drug transport from Barcelona to Villanueva de la Cañada (Madrid), in full confinement due to the health emergency, two other members of the organization with domicile in Alcorcón and Madrid were arrested, where they had rented a single-family home, adapting it and soundproofing it to extract the drug from the machinery without attracting attention.
The operation ended in June with the investigation of the last member of the organization, responsible for importing the machinery in Santander.
