Dismantled an international criminal organization dedicated to drug trafficking led by a DJ based in Ibiza
The synthetic drugs were sent from the Balearic Islands to Miami (USA) mainly, a route in which more than 45 kg of ecstasy and 13 of ketamine have been intervened to different "mules"
In this last phase of exploitation, 8 kilos of synthetic drugs, 38 kilos of dried marijuana buds, 4,500 plants of the same substance in 4 plantations and 45,000 euros have been seized
21 people have been arrested in Ibiza, Barcelona and Gerona, with a total of 8 searches at homes and premises
The Civil Guard, within the framework of the “PERTINAX” operation, has dismantled an international criminal organization, supposedly dedicated to committing crimes against public health, as well as money laundering.
In the operation, 21 people have been arrested on the island of Ibiza and in the provinces of Barcelona and Girona, making a total of 8 searches in homes and premises, and intervening 8 kilos of synthetic drugs (Ketamine and ecstasy), 38 kilos of marijuana in the form of dried buds ready for marketing and 4,500 plants out of a total of 4 dismantled plantations (3 indoors and 1 outdoors), computer and electronic tools, documentation, 45,000 euros in cash and a vehicle with a system of concealment using ' double bottom 'that was used to transport drugs between the Peninsula and Ibiza.
A shotgun has also been seized with which one of the gang members, when the agents broke into one of the buildings to search it, confronted them. He thought that he could be being subjected to a "turnaround" (drug theft by a rival gang), laying down his attitude when he realized that it was the Civil Guard.
The investigations began last October 2019, after a group of people residing in the Balearic Islands was detected who allegedly would be engaging in the trafficking of synthetic drugs (ketamine and methamphetamine-MDMA), with a transnational criminal scope, since part of the drug produced was transported concealed in luggage from different parts of Spanish territory to the United States, specifically to the city of Miami (Florida), using "mules" that were captured for this purpose.
Once those responsible for said criminal activities had been identified, through international police collaboration channels, a joint work team was established with the United States' HSI (Homeland Security Investigations) Agency, allowing the arrest of three people in Miami, which resulted in the seizure of 15 kilos of MDMA in pills and 14 kilos of liquid ketamine. At the same time, in Spanish territory, a person with 18 kilos of MDMA in pills was arrested in Barcelona and another person in Palma from Ibiza with 14 and a half kilos of MDMA in pills, who also acted as mules for the organization.

The Civil Guard investigations allow us to consider the double role played by the leader of the criminal group under investigation, that of his condition as leader, such as the distribution of synthetic drugs, taking advantage of his condition as a DJ, a circumstance that provided him with extensive contacts.
Currently, given the health crisis of Covid-19, the substances were supplied mainly at private parties on the Ibiza Island.
The Civil Guard has seized substances for the manufacture and trafficking of approximately 120,000 tablets from the organization and attributes to this group the distribution and exportation over at least three years a quantity of tablets that would exceed the figure of 2 million tablets.
This operation, supervised by the Court of Instruction No. 9 of Palma and by the Anti-Drug Prosecutor's Office of the Balearic Islands, has been carried out by the Civil Guard Zone of the Balearic Islands together with the Team Against Organized Crime (ECO) of the Central Unit Operative of the Civil Guard and the HSI (Homeland Security Investigations) of the United States, with the support of Units of the Barcelona and Girona Command.
