Joint operation of the Civil Guard and Europol
25 people have been arrested and investigated for the crimes of belonging to criminal organization and drug trafficking
The operation has been developed simultaneously by about 600 agents in locations in Spain, Belgium, Holland, Germany and France
The Civil Guard, with the support of Europol, has carried out the BACCARAT operation, in which a criminal organization dedicated to drug trafficking has been dismantled, within the framework of an international operation coordinated by Europol and developed simultaneously in several European countries .
The investigation began in 2017 when a complex organization, perfectly coordinated and hierarchical, dedicated to large-scale cocaine trafficking between South America and Europe was detected. The drug was introduced using shipping containers in Belgium and subsequently distributed in Europe through vehicles equipped with sophisticated hidden compartments. The investigations revealed that this criminal group could be managing marijuana plantations in Spain and Germany, before distribution and sale by other European countries.
In relation to this operation, 30 registrations have been made in several countries, with the result of 6 marijuana plantations dismantled and the intervention of € 60,000 in cash, short arms and ammunition. Of the records made, 3 have taken place in Spain, and have been carried out by the Civil Guard in the provinces of Guadalajara and Toledo, locating 3 marijuana plantations where 700 plants, 16 mobile phones, 1 tablet, 4,790 € in fractional bills, 7 cans of marijuana cream and 4 bottles of 100% cannabiol oil.
The operation has resulted in the arrest of 6 people, 5 of Colombian origin and an Albanian citizen in Spain, 9 arrests in Belgium, 3 in the Netherlands, 6 in Germany and one in France, several of them with a long history of background drug traffic. Likewise, a European arrest warrant has been issued against another person of Albanian origin.
The searches carried out in Spain have been carried out by agents of the Civil Guard of Madrid, Toledo and Guadalajara and of the Cinological Service, and agents of Europol and the Antwerp Police.
