Joint operation of the Civil Guard and the National Police
Agents of the Civil Guard and the National Police have dismantled in Malaga, through a joint operation, a criminal organization specialized in the cultivation of marijuana, and have arrested 23 of its members. The leaders of the plot were, presumably, two brothers who were dedicated to occupying houses to grow marijuana. They chose the members of the network from family and friends whom they entrusted to grow marijuana in exchange for allowing them to inhabit them.
In order to carry out their illegal activity, they did not hesitate to intimidate and threaten neighbors whom they considered hostile or those people who would have complained or who would have tried to interfere in some way with their activity. All those investigated were arrested as allegedly responsible for the crimes of belonging to a criminal organization, usurpation of housing, crime against public health, money laundering, fraud of electricity and illegal possession of weapons.
The investigations began in June, upon detecting a high increase in housing occupations in the eastern part of the province, more specifically in the municipality of Rincón de la Victoria. Apparently they were being used to grow and distribute marijuana. After an analysis and study of the facts, it was concluded that behind it would be an organized criminal group that had settled in the area carrying out this illegal activity.
Once the investigations were focused, the investigators found that this plot consisted of about thirty members, led mainly by a man dedicated to drug trafficking who had previously been arrested for similar events. The main investigated had a perfectly structured network and used advanced technological means.
With family and friends, he developed all the activity
To develop his activity, he used family and friends. Specifically, his brother would be his lieutenant, carrying out technical and coordination tasks regarding the plantation facilities, the choice of seeds and / or cuttings, as well as the sale and distribution of the harvest. In another step would be the person in charge of assigning the occupied houses to other friends or relatives, where they would reside for free in exchange for caring for and maintaining the plantations that were found inside.
His father, who would also be involved, would be in charge of organizing and coordinating the transactions with the different suppliers, maintaining and reviewing the facilities, facilitating the additional supplies of electricity and water required by the plantations, as well as carrying out security and surveillance tasks in the "headquarters" of the family. Among the members of this network there was also a woman, responsible for accounting, whose task consisted of guarding and keeping all the capital collected as a result of the illegal activity. The rest of the members, until they reach their thirties, would be other friends and relatives of the leaders of the network. They also used local youth, assigning them tasks of care, surveillance and, in some cases, collection and transport of drugs.
The investigations allowed investigators to identify a large part of the organization's members and locate more than twenty houses, most of them occupied, where they were carrying out different illegal activities.
Advanced technological systems to avoid police action
After arduous efforts, and given the progress of the investigation, it has been possible to determine that this network had advanced technological communication systems to avoid police action and that, in addition to the cultivation and distribution of marijuana, they were also dedicated to the sale of other substances illegal. The leader received information at all times from the rest of the members, who requested their consent in case of any doubt or incident. Its leader, of a violent nature, was in charge, together with his brother and lieutenant, of solving any problem with neighbors or suppliers, threatening and intimidating, sometimes using excessive physical and verbal violence.
This joint operation, in which more than 300 agents from both police forces have participated, has culminated in the practice of 26 searches and 23 arrests, and has allowed the dismantling of a criminal organization dedicated to occupying houses to, later, install plantations of marijuana for sale and distribution. In the records, 2,010 marijuana plants, 461 grams of hashish, 317 grams of buds and marijuana bites have been seized and, among other effects, 42,000 euros, a pistol, a machete, six high-end vehicles, six computers have been intervened , 33 mobile phones, a bulletproof vest, transmitting equipment, an inhibitor, documentation and all the necessary elements for growing marijuana.
