The popular spokeswoman also recalled the work carried out by the EU in previous health crises such as the crisis caused 17 years ago by the Acute Breathing Syndrome.

Therefore, he added, "we have the obligation to support any country in difficulty, under the principles of solidarity and cooperation on which the European Union has been built."

Dolors Montserrat has also stressed that the EU ”must activate the Emergency Response Coordination Center to facilitate assistance and advice actions to China as well as other affected countries, and also be able to coordinate early response and prevention in the member states of The EU".

“We must take all the necessary actions to stop the spread of the virus, we have the knowledge and the tools to do it and we just need to get all to work on it under the coordination of the European Commission and the collaboration of the World Health Organization (WHO), ”he insisted.
