The Facilita_RGPD tool, designed by the Spanish Agency for Data Protection to help SMEs and freelancers to comply with data protection regulations, has received the global prize of the 41st International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Authorities, whose delivery took place yesterday in Tirana (Albania).
The awards, to which 34 nominations have been submitted, are aimed at recognize the excellence and innovation of good practices implemented by the Authorities. Thus, the Facilita_RGPD tool has received the award in the category ‘People’s Choice’, the global prize of the Conference, which is awarded to the project most voted by the members among all nominations submitted. To this award has been added the ‘Accountability’ award, which recognizes the project that has best promoted proactive responsibility, favoring compliance with regulations in a practical way.
The Facilita_RGPD tool, available in Spanish and English, was launched in September 2017 with the collaboration of CEOE and CEPYME, and since its launch More than 400,000 professionals and companies have obtained their compliance support documents through it. Its creation came as a response to the needs that the adaptation to the European Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) posed to small and medium-sized companies, which in Spain represent more than 95% of the business fabric. “The Agency launched Facilita_RGPD as an aid tool, being aware that the adaptation to the Regulation was a challenge for everyone and especially for SMEs, micro-SMEs and freelancers, who have very limited resources and resources,” said the director of the AEPD, Mar Spain, during the prize collection.
Facilita_RGPD is raised as an online questionnaire with a maximum duration of 20 minutes with which companies and professionals can, first, verify through a series of questions that the data they treat can be considered low risk and, secondly , obtain the minimum documents that will help them in compliance with the regulations.
These awards granted to Facilita_RGPD add to the second prize received this year from the 'Citizenship Award' in the XII edition of the 'Awards for Quality and Innovation in Public Management' of the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Public Function, which recognize the innovation of the tool in the field of the General State Administration.
