In a message disseminated on the occasion of the celebration of World Tapa Day, Valdés stated that "today is a day to enjoy tapas, their quality and variety, but doing so responsibly, respecting sanitary security measures" .

Valdés has also attended the event organized by Hostelería España and Saborea España, in which he has highlighted the great importance of gastronomic tourism: "The tapa is culture, tradition, excellence and makes Spanish gastronomy a heritage."
