Fitur 2021, in its special edition Tourism is back, confirms its celebration between the days May 19 to 23, and it will be the first great experience of safe international mobility in Spain.

Representatives of all the administrations and organizations involved in this fair have met at the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism to confirm their commitment to the celebration of this great international tourism fair, which seeks to relaunch Tourism on a global level and consolidate Spain as a safe tourism prescriber.

The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto; the president of the IFEMA Executive Committee, Jose Vicente de los Mozos; the president of IBERIA and the Organizing Committee of Fitur, Javier Sánchez Prieto; the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Community of Madrid, Marta Rivera de la Cruz, and the Tourism delegate of the Madrid City Council, Almudena Maíllo, have confirmed the necessary support to make Fitur the great platform to promote the tourism and travel sector, committing the necessary resources to make the event a safe space from the health point of view and offer a digital window to the world.

In the words of the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, “The celebration of Fitur is good news because it allows us to show the world that Spain is synonymous with a quality and safe destination. In addition, Fitur will be a global showcase to discuss initiatives such as health passports, tourist corridors, diagnostic tests, etc. but it also represents a milestone for the tourism sector that faces 2021 with optimism due to the arrival of vaccines that offers a horizon for the reactivation of the sector ”.

An idea on which the president of the IFEMA Executive Committee, José Vicente de los Mozos, has influenced, stating that “we are going to concentrate all our efforts to shield the celebration of one of the main tourism fairs in the world, such as Fitur, in the May call for which the various players in an industry that need to accelerate its recovery have pinned their hopes and which has now more than ever been revealed as a great engine of the economy. At IFEMA we have the protocols and sufficient conditions for this call to be carried out under the highest standards of health safety. "

In this order of things, and with the aim of maximizing the safety of all those attending Fitur and defining an ultra-safe space for the development of the largest event in the world tourism industry, IFEMA representatives have explained that, in addition to the mandatory nature of PCR tests at origin and rapid on-site tests, a protocol has been developed that gathers all the necessary measures to organize the flow of attendees and their mobility; establish capacity controls, safety distances, the elimination of direct contact through digital registration, and the incorporation of the latest technologies for health safety and the counting of attendees, and especially for air renewal in pavilions.

Regarding this last aspect of ventilation, it is worth highlighting the attention paid to minimizing the risk of contagion by air, such as air conditioning systems. All IFEMA pavilions are equipped with a ventilation system that guarantees 100% outside air, being able to renew all the air in the pavilion in just over 20 min, maintaining at all times the comfort temperature necessary for the development of activity.

As of today, Fitur 2021, which has been recognized by the Government as an Event of Exceptional Public Interest, has sold 70% of the reserved area at IFEMA, with more than 41,200 net square meters
