Esteban González Pons He has been re-elected today as vice president of the Group of the European People's Party (EPP), the largest political force in the European Parliament.
Among its functions will be to direct and coordinate the action and parliamentary work of the EPP Group in a priority area; and that of occasionally representing the EPP Group in high-level meetings such as the Conference of Presidents of the European Parliament, in which the leaders of all the political groups of the European Parliament are represented.
González Pons has already served as vice president of the PPE Group during the last European legislature, when he was elected to this position in 2014 and 2016.
In a separate vote, the EPP Group also re-elected German Manfred Weber, who is also his candidate to chair the European Commission, as president today.
The EPP Group is the most numerous and influential European Parliament, having won the European elections on 26 May.
