Spain conveys to the families of all those killed, to the Afghan people and authorities, and to the staff of Médicos sin Fronteras – organization that collaborates in the management of the hospital – their heartfelt condolences and their wish for the wounded to achieve a speedy and complete recovery.
Spain reaffirms its solidarity with the Afghan people and trusts that those responsible for this heinous crime will be brought to justice.
Spain recalls, in accordance with the rules of International Humanitarian Law and in line with resolution 2286 of the United Nations Security Council, the obligation to respect and protect all health personnel and humanitarian personnel dedicated exclusively to medical missions, which includes hospitals and other health facilities.
For this reason, Spain reiterates its conviction that the international community must continue making efforts to achieve the effective development and fulfillment of said resolution, including adequate attention to victims and investigation of these attacks.
