Grande-Marlaska advocates coordination within the EU around measures to contain COVID-19


The meeting was also attended by the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ylva Johansson; that of Health and Food Safety, Stella Kyriakides; and that of Crisis Management, Janez Lenarčič.

Grande-Marlaska stressed at the meeting that given the current situation "responses must be coordinated and harmonized" within the European Union and stressed the need to maintain and strengthen "information exchanges".

The Minister of the Interior, in accordance with this spirit of information exchange, explained at the meeting the measures adopted by Spain to contain COVID-19 and protect the health of citizens, especially those contained in the Royal Decree by which It has decreed the alarm status and that in its article 7 it establishes limitations to the movement of people.

Grande-Marlaska has also supported the guidelines set by the institutions of the European Union during the meeting aimed at agreeing on the response to COVD-19 and protecting the health of European citizens.
