The Minister of Health, Salvador Illa, has confirmed that "everything is ready to proceed to repatriation", after meeting with the directors general of Public Health of the autonomous communities and scientific societies.
In the absence of the completion of the flight that will transfer them, it is planned that two External Health teams carry out an initial assessment of the people on board the aircraft.
Passengers will be transferred to the Gómez Ulla hospital where they will remain in quarantine for 14 days, the maximum incubation period for the virus. This is an exceptional measure agreed within the EU to ensure the safety of all citizens of the Union.
"Our responsibility is to ensure that they can return with all guarantees for their safety and that of all citizens," said Illa. "And therefore, we will take all precautions, avoiding any risk to the maximum."
The hospital has reserved a plant to house the citizens of our country from Wuhan. These people will have freedom of movement within the quarantine area and will have the necessary amenities. Among the returnees is a minor. "We will try to make this stay as bearable as possible," the minister insisted.
The health personnel that will provide care for these people are specifically trained to handle these types of situations. They will be equipped with the protection measures specified in the Spanish protocols.
Quarantined persons may receive the visit of their relatives in a controlled manner and equipped with protective measures.
