The Spanish Confederation of Small and Medium Enterprises, CEPYME, has delivered its annual Awards, in a ceremony that has been attended by the Minister of Economy and Business Acting, Nadia Calviño.

In her speech at the event, the Minister of Economy and Business, Nadia Calviño, highlighted the quality of Spanish SMEs, which are "engine of growth, job creation and innovation." Calviño has pointed out that, in "a complicated context, the Spanish economy is behaving better than other economies thanks to companies, one of the most important assets."

For his part, the president of CEPYME, Gerardo Cuerva, has pointed out that "SME stands for strong company, leading company", as the companies awarded in this edition, and has claimed the "pride of being SME", "especially because they are the almost three million small and medium enterprises and self-employed people in Spain who start the country every morning ”.

The event also involved the CEO of Santander Spain, Rami Aboukhair, who highlighted the support that Banco Santander provides to SMEs.

The CEPYME Prize for SME of the Year 2019, sponsored by Banco Santander, He has fallen to the company Immunotek, a Madrid company specialized in the development and production of vaccines, which has its origins in a family business. Inmunotek has a strong component of scientific innovation and 50% of its production goes abroad, mainly to countries of the European Union, but also to other countries on five continents. Currently, the company has 250 highly qualified professionals.

The rest of the winners in this edition in each of the categories have been:

SME Technological Innovation, sponsored by Facebook: Algaenergy. Madrid biotechnology company, founded in 2007, dedicated to the cultivation of microalgae for sectors such as agriculture, cosmetics, aquaculture, nutrition, etc. It stands out for its innovation and development of new products and the means for R & D & I, which have made it a world reference in the cultivation and use of microalgae.

SME International Development, sponsored by UPS: GPA Innova. Company of Barcelona, ​​created in 2013, specialized in the development, production and commercialization of metal polishing solutions for the medical, dental, automotive and aeronautical sectors, among others. It is present on five continents and has a network of distributors in more than 20 countries.

Employment Creation SME, sponsored by Randstad: R. Queraltó Group. Company of Seville, whose origins date back to 1898, specializing in medical supplies, products and health services. It distributes its products throughout Spain and in more than 30 countries. From 2016 to 2018 it has increased its workforce by 196%, from 27 employees to 80, more than 50% of them in the last year.

SME Entrepreneurial Project, sponsored by Securitas: Ecapture3D. Badajoz company, whose activity is focused on the generation of 3D models from any device and for all types of users, easily and at affordable prices through a web platform.

SME or Autonomous Entrepreneur for the labor inclusion of people with disabilities, sponsored by Inserta-Fundación Once: Alberto Muñoz Palacio, from the Pájaros en la Cabeza restaurant. Zaragoza Company, which was born in 2014, has the support of the Down Zaragoza Foundation and is the first establishment in Aragon that offers an employment contract to young people with Down syndrome.

SME for Equality, sponsored by Visa: Oion Business Support. Zaragoza company, specialized in outsourcing solutions for services and processes worldwide, focused on three areas: multichannel attention, document management and digitalization and marketing. In 2017 they launched an Equal Opportunity Plan that is integrated into the company's scorecard and is the means to achieve the objectives in terms of access to employment, professional classification, training and promotion and compensation.

Pyme Transformación Digital, sponsored by Orange: Northern Applications and Works. Burgos company of the auxiliary sector of the industry, rehabilitation and construction, which is dedicated to waterproofing. Autonomous of the Year, sponsored by Peugeot: Jesús Esteban Barrio, TicandBot. Located in Zaragoza, TicandBot is a logical thinking school in which children from 4 to 16 years learn to solve problems through computer tools, programming, robotics, 3D printing and drones. Created in 2015, it also has its own headquarters with 25 educational centers and presence in three Autonomous Communities.

In addition to these awards, a special recognition has been made in this edition for the former president of CEIM, Juan Pablo Lázaro, and for the Mercadona company.

For its part, Iberia-On Business, as a collaborating company in these Awards, has presented the company recognized as SME of the Year with two business tickets to Europe.
