Germany, France, the United Kingdom and Spain strongly condemn the demolition, carried out by Israel, of Palestinian buildings in the municipal district of Wadi al Hummus, located southeast of Jerusalem.
We remain seriously concerned about the continuing demolitions of Palestinian property by Israeli authorities. Except in exceptional circumstances, the demolition of buildings in occupied territories is contrary to International Humanitarian Law and Resolutions of the United Nations Security Council. This practice causes unnecessary suffering to the Palestinian citizen and is detrimental to the peace process.
In this specific case, the demolition has been particularly relevant, since part of the affected buildings were located in areas A and B under the jurisdiction of the Palestinian Authority under the Oslo Accords and, therefore, constitutes a violation of them. . It sets a dangerous precedent that directly endangers the solution of the two states.
