The Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation in office, Josep Borrell, held on June 30 a working lunch with Alejandro Ferrer, appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs in the new Government of President Laurentino Cortizo, who took office 1st of July.

The first meeting between the two ministers made it possible to confirm the good state of bilateral relations between Spain and Panama. Both parties have agreed to continue working together in this new stage, in order to continue strengthening the links and promoting political and economic exchanges between the two countries.

There has also been occasion to review the main issues on the regional and international agenda, paying special attention to the situation in Venezuela, as well as to the Central American integration process.

During the meeting, Minister Borrell has recognized Panamanian efforts to align with the standards of transparency and international tax cooperation, while encouraging the new authorities to continue working on this matter.

Finally, Minister Borrell has reiterated the congratulations of Spain for the V Anniversary of the founding of Panama City.
