"What is the budget heading for the Maritime Service of the Civil Guard in Ceuta, and how many troops does it have this year? And five years ago? ” With this question, the national deputy of VOX for Ceuta, Teresa López, addresses the socialist government to take an interest in this body, which is undergoing constant espionage and control by organizations dedicated to drug smuggling in the Strait.
This body, although it mainly performs functions of control and management of irregular immigration, also carries out the functions of the “terrestrial” Civil Guard as a fiscal guard of the State, prevention and investigation of crimes or activities destined to avoid and prosecute contraband. That is why the Spanish Association of the Civil Guard (AEGC) calls for an expansion of the current strength of the Maritime Service of the Civil Guard deployed in Ceuta.
The reason: attempts to transfer drugs to the peninsula are taking place in the area "in an increasingly desperate way by the criminal organizations that engage in this activity," they say from the AEGC. For this reason, the parliamentarian from Ceuta wants to know if "the Ministry of the Interior is going to articulate concrete measures to alleviate the deficiencies suffered by the agents of the Maritime Service of the Civil Guard in Ceuta in their fight against drug trafficking and espionage organizations, and which are those measures. " And is that "these civil guards suffer espionage by those organizations that feed on people who control their movements because the information they handle is decisive for subsequent drug entry operations," says Lopez.
A situation that has led the national deputy of VOX for Ceuta to ask if "the Ministry of the Interior is going to increase the human and material strength of the Benemérita in the Maritime Service of the Civil Guard in Ceuta to be able to pursue drug trafficking with greater support and to those criminal espionage organizations ”. In addition, López wants to know the number of "drug entry attempts have occurred in the last year."
"Does the Executive plan to eliminate any of the 18 groups available to the Maritime Service of the Civil Guard? Asks the Ceuta parliamentarian, who has also questioned the Executive about" what is the policy that, from the Ministry of the Interior, it is going to be adopted in relation to the Maritime Service of the Civil Guard ”.
