The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, announced at the inauguration of Digital Tourist 2020 the launch in November of the Tourism Data Viewer, a unique web space for tourism data from which you can access the different tourist statistical sources from public and private organizations that will allow create a new model of knowledge.

For the minister, “this crisis has underlined the need to count, more than ever, with indicators, data and information in real time to be able to predict scenarios and behaviors and implement, where appropriate, the appropriate public policies and anticipate the decision-making process. decisions ”.

During her speech, the minister also referred to a new tool – the Directory of Technological Solutions – available for Smart Tourist Destinations (DTI) where a series of technological solutions (products / services) from providers specialized in this sector are available. in the national market.

The objective of the directory is to facilitate access to Tourist Destinations to the knowledge of solutions and resources that help them improve their competitiveness, so that a meeting point between supply and demand is generated. The tool is structured based on the five axes that support the DTI methodology and is completely free for companies.

To date, the catalog includes 90 companies and 115 technological solutions that range from those related to artificial intelligence, virtual assistants or data analytics systems, through marketing tools, CRM, videomapping, virtual reality, active listening or web design. , to others related to the efficient management of water, air quality, energy or waste.

The minister has also highlighted the project called Smart Tourism, which will aim to accelerate the digital transformation of tourism activity, within the framework of the Spain Digital 2025 Agenda.

As Maroto pointed out, these initiatives “aim to maintain Spain's competitive leadership in a global market, increase the contribution of tourism to the digital economy and increase the resilience of tourism activity by improving health security, sustainability, the quality of tourism public services and digitization and increase in productivity of the tourism business fabric ”.

The minister pointed out that the Smart Tourist Destinations Network is being key in Spain's tourism strategy, since in little more than two years it has become a key element in supporting the conversion of destinations, favoring cohesion, the exchange of good practices and the use of synergies between the 198 members that are part of the network and the sector.

Finally, the minister pointed out that we must turn the double digital and ecological transition into an opportunity to continue being the most competitive country in the world in terms of tourism.

“From the Government we have worked very hard to attend to the urgent but also the important. The urgent thing was to protect the business fabric and the workers and for this we approved an ambitious crash plan, and the important thing now is to reactivate the tourism sector by incorporating digitization and sustainability into our tourism system as levers to improve our competitiveness ”, he said.

Plenary Commission of the DTI Network

Within the framework of Digital Tourist, the Plenary Committee of the DTI Network will be held, which will approve the incorporation of 19 new members, 7 institutions and 12 companies, bringing the total number of members to 198: 119 destinations, 31 institutions and 48 companies.

New institutions include the Tourism Board, Basquetour, the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Development Society, the Son Servera and Sant Llorenç des Cardassar Tourism Consortium, the Spanish Association of Business Consultants, the Spanish Ecotourism Association (AEE) and Apadrina un Olivo.

While the new collaborating companies attached to the Network are AnySolution, Discoolver World, Hotels Quality, Interactive System Developers, Ok Located, Olocip 11, Play & Go Experience, Puntodis Accesible Solutions in Sign Writing, Sismotur, SemanticBots, Wifclub Experience and Tourism Data Driven Solutions.

More than 220 attendees from 160 organizations, including destinations, institutions and companies, will participate electronically in the Commission.
