El portavoz del GPP en el Senado, Javier Maroto

The spokesman of the Popular Parliamentary Group in the Senate, Javier Maroto, has asked the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, "coherence, transparency and responsibility before the delicate moment that we are living through the crisis of the coronavirus."

"A government that acts with a high profile must maintain coherence, transparency and responsibility," Maroto insisted. "Many citizens are seeing that they lack all this to the degree that they owe," he denounced.

The spokesman of the PP has assured that from his party "we maintain a criterion of responsibility and support to the decisions that are taken from the public institutions", reason why he has wanted to send to the citizens a "message of calm contained".

In his opinion, in these moments of crisis citizens expect to see all political parties together and “we have to give a message of unity because there are many people worried. The best response to uncertainty is unity of action and more effective measures. ”

In addition, the popular spokesman explained that his group will turn the control session next week “into an opportunity for the Government to explain better and more in detail issues that affect both the social situation of our country, as well as the economic activity and the whole productive fabric. Unfortunately the coronavirus does not understand sectors of activity, ”he said.

Thus, during the control session next week, the Popular Group will ask the various ministers questions to explain their position on sectoral issues such as education, tourism, the economy or taxation. ”

"We will do it in the best possible, positive and constructive tones, but our goal is to obtain additional information for all the media that are those who distribute that information to citizens," he stressed.

On the other hand, the popular spokesman stressed that “there are many people in Spain who do not understand that the Government in full goes to a demonstration on March 8 with more than 150,000 people, and then recommend that they do not attend meetings of more than 1,000 persons".

Maroto, after the meeting of the Board of Spokespersons of the Upper House, has reproached the Government that today “we do not know the Clash Plan against the expansion of the coronavirus, only internal fights in the Council of Ministers. More uncoordination of the Government can not, ”he said.
