During the second phase of Operation Summer Exit, which begins this Wednesday, July 31 and will end on Thursday, August 1, bus companies will reinforce all their services by 44%. If we talk about bus transport, which will be chosen by more than 8.5 million travelers in August, it represents a safe, economical, ecological and high quality mode, which has a 46% share compared to 27% by air, 26% by rail and 1% by sea.

The bus is presented as the most suitable option, since it is one of the safest, most economical and requested modes, as well as less polluting:

  • It is a means of transport adapted to new demands and needs of travelers. Most bus companies offer Wi-Fi services on board, chargers for mobile devices, touch screens with entertainment offer or special menus for long-distance trips, among others.
  • Is three times cheaper than the private vehicle or the plane, twice cheaper than the AVE and 1.3 times cheaper than the long and medium distance train. The Spanish concessional model allows comparatively much more affordable rates than other countries with liberalized models.
  • It is the only way that guarantees mobility universally, with more than 2.9 billion travelers a year, reaching all corners of the country. It offers adapted vehicles and cheap prices. It is the only way in which the sign of no bills does not exist.
  • It's a way very sure, with levels similar to those of aviation or rail. Regarding the private vehicle, it is 20 times safer. If we take care of the number of deaths, in 2018 it was 0.66% of road victims. In fact, the bus accident rate is the lowest of the road transport modes.
  • It is the socially mode more efficient, by generating less negative externalities (pollution, noise, climate change, accidents, etc.) and the way that less polluting emissions generates 2.6 times less than the railroad and 6 times less than the car. The displacement by coach prevents the emission of about 5 million tons of CO2 into the atmosphere annually.

The good performance of the tourism sector in Spain represents a significant boost for the bus sector. Spain ranks second worldwide in receiving foreign tourists according to the UNWTO and where the coach plays a key role in sustainably connecting a large number of enclaves of diverse interest and municipalities of all sizes throughout the country, allowing to arrive where other modes do not do so to access the more remote populations while traveling with all possible amenities.

The bus fleets, thanks to their levels of quality, professionalism, safety and comfort, they contribute to improving the image of the country in tourists, favoring the Spanish economy. In addition, it contributes to sustainable mobility, as it reduces pollution.
