May 26, 2020.- The Andalusian parliamentarian of VOX in Cádiz, Ángela Mulas, will ask the Andalusian government to act against the loss of workload in the Navantia shipyards in Cádiz.
The deputy for the province has highlighted the possibility that "Political and non-technical criteria are those that harm the Cádiz factory of not getting new contracts, so it is necessary for the Andalusian government to act accordingly and ask the central government for explanations about the loss of contracts such as the construction of the 20 US ships that have been awarded to "Fincantieri", the Italian construction company ". According to Mules "The bay of Cádiz deserves the Andalusian government to ask for the non-award of a contract of more than 5,000 million euros, which would have been an economic boost for the bay with workload until 2030".
It must be remembered that Navantia was presented to this award with many possibilities before the new AEGIS combat system already successfully installed in the Spanish F-100 frigates and developed by the factory together with the American company ‘General Dynamics Bath Iron’. "That is why its award was taken for granted, for example the company Italian company did not offer any added value similar to what Navantia was offering ”, explained Mulas.
For all these reasons, he will ask two important questions to the Minister of Finance, Industry and Energy, Juan Bravo, in this week's committee. "From Vox, and as a native of Cádiz, I want to know the impact that the loss of this award has on the economy and employment of the region, and therefore of Andalusia. And in the same way I would like to know, what actions have been carried out or will be carried out by the Andalusian government to mediate in this situation ”, pointed out the parliamentarian.
To finish, the regional deputy of VOX wanted to show her discomfort with this circumstance. “The coronavirus is going to plunge our province, the one with the highest unemployment in the country, into an unprecedented crisis. And according to the government, that was inevitable. But they could have prevented Navantia from losing 10 years of work and job creation in the region. Too bad ”.
