These interventions are part of the "Operation Green" designed by the National Police to reduce the capacity of criminal organizations dedicated to the cultivation of marijuana, through an intensive operation at the national level in order to dismantle as many cannabis plantations as possible.

22-July-2019.- National Police agents have dismantled two indoor and processed cannabis sativa plantations in Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz). The plantations were prepared for the accelerated cultivation of more than 500 plants and had all kinds of machinery necessary to favor the rapid growth of the plants and thus achieve four annual harvests. The investigations that are framed within the Green Plan to eradicate the cultivation of marijuana in the Bay of Cádiz, have ended with the arrest of two people as alleged perpetrators of a crime against public health and electric energy fraud. A total of 164 plants of cannabis sativa, one kilo of marijuana, as well as more than 11 kilos of marijuana buds ready for sale have been apprehended.

The first of the plantations was installed in a building located in the historic center of Jerez de la Frontera, whose interior had been transformed into four rooms equipped for indoor cultivation with 45 large luminaires, 5 industrial-size conditioned air consoles , 14 fans, 5 carbon filters, 6 extractor turbines and 65 magnetic ballasts. The house had four light boxes of great power connected to the electricity network fraudulently. In total, 164 large plants and more than one kilo of marijuana prepared for sale have been seized. For all these reasons, the tenant of the dwelling was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of an offense against public health and electric power fraud.

Installation in the basement of a single-family house

The second intervention was carried out in a detached house located in the residential area near the Torróx lagoons, where its owner had transformed all the rooms in the basement in order to house a complete cultivation and handling facility. The registration was made at the time when the last harvest had been carried out and the drying process was being finalized prior to its direct introduction on the black market. In a room specifically enabled for this last processing step, 11,700 kilos of marijuana buds prepared for distribution and sale were intervened.

The operations have ended with the arrest of two people as alleged perpetrators of a crime against public health and defraudation of electricity. Once the proceedings were completed, the detainees were placed at the disposition of the Juzgado de Instrucción on guard duty in Jerez de la Frontera.

The agents of the National Police work to detect, identify and detain people dedicated to the illegal cultivation of cannabis sativa and drug trafficking in general.
