05-December-2020.- The National Police has become the only Spanish police and one of the first in Europe to obtain verification of its account on the social network TikTok. The new blue badge means having greater guarantees to communicate safety messages and, likewise, an important advance in the fight against hoaxes and fake news in the most booming social network among adolescents.

TikTok is one of the most powerful social networks in the world and also in our country, where it has millions of users, so the verification badge of the @policia account is essential to guarantee citizens access to information real and accurate, from an official source. In this way, and taking into account that most of the users of this social network are young people and adolescents, it counteracts, for example, those profiles that, sometimes even impersonating or with an image similar to that of the Police, they can confuse the receiver with misleading, false, and even dangerous information.

20,000 "likes" a day

The blue badge that, from now on, will be visible on the cover and next to the profile name, comes after the success achieved by the National Police in this social network. Since the first video was published, less than a month ago, the profile of the National Police has more than 150,000 followers and more than 550,000 “likes”. In just this time, his 16 videos have already been viewed more than seven million times. During the first 24 hours alone, the number of followers already exceeded 40,000. With all these results, the National Police continues the path that it began several years ago, when it managed to position itself as a world reference in all the social networks in which it is present.

The objectives of this security body in social networks are, from the beginning, to raise awareness, prevent, disseminate security messages and get the public to observe its Police as a close and useful institution, especially among the younger public. For this, the National Police seeks in each of its publications to adapt to the public of each social network, adapting its message to the style of the network and to the needs that, at any time, may arise in society in general.
