Real Madrid won the title on the last day.
48 years have passed since the 15th League of the Real Madrid. On May 14, 1972, the team won the title after defeating Sevilla in the Santiago Bernabeu (4-1) on the last day. The madridistas thrashed the Seville team with the goals of Amancio and Santillana in the first half, and the double of Pirri in the second.
That edition, which had 18 teams, ended the Real Madrid in first place after adding 47 points. Valencia (45) and Barcelona (43) followed. Pirri, with 11 goals, and Santillana, with 10, were the top filmmakers of the team. That Real Madrid squad was trained by Miguel Muñoz, who achieved his ninth and last League in front of the team.
