The national president of the Popular Party, Pablo Casado, participated this Thursday in the meeting of the European People's Party. PPE leaders met this morning before the European Council to coordinate actions against the Covid crisis19, with the presence of the President of the European Commission, Úrsula Von Der Leyen and the heads of government of Ireland, Greece, Austria, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia and Croatia.
The leaders agreed in the defense of the solidarity of the EU with the aid to the health and job protection systems, and the responsibility of the States to recover economic growth and the sustainability of the welfare state.
In his speech, Pablo Casado supported the common position of the PPE on aid to get out of the crisis, and explained his support for the state of alarm of the Government of Spain, but also its demands in economic matters, after learning yesterday by Eurostat the deviation of almost 20,000 million euros in deficit in 2019, and the statements of the Italian Prime Minister warning that Sánchez could ask for the European rescue.
