The president of the Tourism and Sports Council of the CEOE, Marta Blanco, participated this Thursday in the presentation of the Plan to promote the tourism sector that took place at the Palacio de la Moncloa: towards a safe and sustainable post-COVID tourism- 19.
In an act that has had the presence of the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez; the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Zurab Pololikashvili, and a large ministerial representation, Blanco has stated that the plan was "highly anticipated", since "CEOE has been insistently demanding it" since the beginning of the crisis .
During his speech he explained that the tourism sector "must continue to be a strategic sector" for the Spanish economy, so "a plan to support tourism is a plan to support Spain".
Subsequently, he has exposed a series of common demands from the tourism sector, in view among other things, of what the companies belonging to the value chain themselves expressed at the business summit that CEOE is holding these days.
In this regard, he assured that "the issue" is the need to extend the temporary employment regulation files (ERTEs), while "the circumstances have not changed."
In the financial sphere, it has called for ambitious measures to ensure the liquidity of companies in the tourism sector; and a VAT reduction in line with what other countries in the European environment are doing. It has also demanded aid plus aid for travel agencies and transport companies.
Finally, Blanco has requested a vacation program in the form of vouchers to continue encouraging the arrival of foreign tourists to Spain.
The plan to boost the tourism sector presented this Thursday is endowed with 4,262 million euros and consists of 28 measures articulated around 28 to five lines of action: restoring confidence in the destination, starting up, starting up measures to reactivate the sector, improving the competitiveness of the tourist destination, improving the model of knowledge and tourist intelligence and a marketing and promotion campaign.
