Rafael Pérez: "The Civil Guard raises its social commitment almost to the degree of activism, a transforming force that improves the lives of citizens"
The Secretary of State for Security, Rafael Pérez, and the General Director of the Civil Guard, María Gámez, have presented the 2022 solidarity calendar of the body, carried out in favor of the Sports Federation for people with intellectual disabilities of Castilla-La Mancha (FECAM )
FECAM promotes the full social normalization of people with intellectual or developmental disabilities through sports and physical activity programs, and the profits obtained from the sale of the calendar will be used to pay for the organization's own purposes.
The Secretary of State for Security, Rafael Pérez, and the general director of the Civil Guard, María Gámez, presented this Friday the solidarity calendar of the Civil Guard 2022, whose benefits will go to the Federation of sports for people with intellectual disabilities of Castilla-La Mancha (FECAM), which promotes the full social normalization of people with intellectual or developmental disabilities through sports and physical activity programs. The profits obtained from the sale of the calendar will go to pay for the purposes of this organization.
The 2022 edition of the solidarity calendar, which can be purchased for a price of five euros, shows different photographs in which FECAM people from different sports disciplines appear together with civil guards, belonging to Citizen Security, Criminalistics Service, UEI, Maritime Service , Mountain Service, Air Service, Cynological Service, Traffic Grouping, GRS, Seprona, SEDEX, GEAS and Cavalry Squadron and students from the “Duque de Ahumada” College of Young Guards.
The Secretary of State for Security, who thanked FECAM for the social work it carries out, stressed that, with initiatives like this one, the Civil Guard "raises its social commitment almost to the level of activism, understood as a transforming force to improve the lives of the citizens it serves, without ceasing to promote actions for the benefit of inclusion, tolerance or respect for diversity ”. It is the meritorious character that has always characterized the body "and that makes its members deserving of the maximum citizen trust."
For her part, the general director of the Civil Guard has shown her pride in this initiative, which she has described as one of the most emotional and heartfelt projects of the institution, and has thanked the Civil Guards who have wanted to collaborate in the realization of the calendar, "to which they have dedicated hours of their lives for a purpose like this, from which I am sure they have also learned a lot during the time they have lived with these young people from FECAM who are an example of improvement".
For the last six years, the Civil Guard has drawn up solidarity calendars in favor of the Down Madrid foundations, JUEGATERAPIA, the Rosa del Desierto organization, the Toledo Paraplegic Hospital foundation, the Debra-Piel de Mariposa organization and the Spanish Federation of Banks of Food (FESBAL), of which more than 20,000 copies were sold in each edition. The Calendar can be obtained physically at the Citizen Service Office of the Civil Guard, at C / Guzmán el Bueno, 110 in Madrid.
SOLIDARITY ACTIONS
During the past year, marked by the health crisis caused by the COVID19 pandemic, the civil guards carried out more than 347 solidarity actions, mainly related to volunteering, such as campaigns to collect food, medicine or any product demanded by the citizens due to the period of confinement, as well as distribution of masks, medicines or school supplies and collaborations with different social organizations.
The (FECAM) is a private, public utility and non-profit entity that was created within Plena Inclusión Castilla-La Mancha in 1993 and is part of the Spanish Federation of Sports for People with Intellectual Disabilities (FEDDI) . It has 40 sports clubs, 700 athletes and 300 federated technicians, in addition to a volunteer network of more than 350 people spread throughout Castilla-La Mancha.
The objective of FECAM is to promote and collaborate in the full social inclusion of people with intellectual or developmental disabilities who so desire through sports and physical activity programs, guaranteeing one more right of their full citizenship and helping to improve quality life of athletes and their families.
