The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, held a meeting today with the CEO of Easyjet in Spain and President of the Association of Airlines (ALA), Javier Gándara, to analyze the evolution of international connectivity with Spain and the forecasts of movements of international visitors for the coming months.
The meeting discussed issues such as the behavior of domestic and intra-European traffic, the general state of planning of airlines during the summer season and the forecasts until the end of the year for both short and long-haul flights, the determining factors of purchase decisions or the current rate of reserves.
Reyes Maroto has highlighted the importance of early warning indicators to control the pandemic and the importance of transmitting coordinated messages and reliable information in order to generate security and confidence in foreign tourists, especially those who each year choose Spain for their vacations. . In this sense, the minister recalled the international campaigns launched by the Ministry in the main tourist source markets, such as the United Kingdom and Germany.
It has been the first working meeting of the new Secretary of State for Tourism, Fernando Valdés, which has been made available to the British company and the Association of Airlines to continue working in an aligned manner in the recovery of international tourists, which is going to allow the revival of the tourism sector.
