The acting Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, attends this Wednesday and Thursday at the 23rd meeting of the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), which is held in the Russian city of St. Petersburg.

Maroto will participate in the plenary sessions in which the election of the next headquarters of the General Assembly will be voted, as well as its president and vice-presidents. In addition, a report on current trends in international tourism, and the work program and the financial situation of the UNWTO will be analyzed in the coming years.

The minister will also participate in two high-level meetings: a ministerial debate on ‘Education and employment in tourism’ to make SDGs 4 and 8 a reality, and a summit on ‘Innovation and Sustainable Development in Tourism’.

In addition, during her stay in St. Petersburg, the minister will hold various bilateral meetings with delegates from some of the countries present at the UNWTO General Assembly.
