Reyes Maroto meets with one hundred representatives of the Spanish hospitality industry


Seventeen members of the Board of Directors of the Business Confederation of Hospitality of Spain (CEHE), headed by its president, José Luis Yzuel, and territorial representatives from fifteen Autonomous Communities and thirty-eight provinces.

This new meeting with the sector is part of the work being carried out by Reyes Maroto and the team of the Secretary of State for Tourism to agree on measures to protect the hotel and restaurant business from the start of the health crisis and to relaunch the phase de-escalation. The result of this dialogue are the measures included in the Order of the Minister of Health for phase 1, such as the reopening of the terraces of the establishments to the public at 50% of the tables and the authorization of up to a maximum of ten people per table or table grouping.

In addition, the Government has supported the Spanish hotel and restaurant industry with these instruments:

  • Line of financing initially planned for those affected by the insolvency of the Thomas Cook business group.
  • Line of guarantees to guarantee liquidity to the entire productive fabric, with special focus on SMEs and the self-employed.
  • Specific line of CERSA to promote the granting of credit from banks by having guarantees from Reciprocal Guarantee Societies.
  • Strengthening the protection of workers and companies through the ERTE that are allowing the protection of more than a million workers in the hospitality industry.
  • Extraordinary benefit for the self-employed due to cessation or reduction of activity that benefits more than one million self-employed, with commerce, hospitality and tourism being the most benefited activities.
  • Postponement of payment of taxes and debts with Social Security for SMEs and self-employed. The tax deferral reaches around 400,000 SMEs and the self-employed for a total of 2,334 million euros.
  • Moratorium to face the payment of the rent of the commercial premises.
