The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, has presented to the diplomatic representatives of the Member States of the EU in Spain the plans of the Spanish Government to relaunch the sectors most affected by COVID-19, especially tourism.

During the meeting called by the Croatian presidency – in which the Secretary of State for the European Union of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, Juan González-Barba – also spoke, the minister explained the measures approved during the state of alarm and the roadmap for the tourism sector: “The Plan to boost tourism will allow us to recover a sector that generates wealth and employment in many countries of the European Union. In the field of health security, we have excellent protocols that follow the recommendations of the Commission and that already have the ISO standard throughout the value chain, "he stressed.

Reyes Maroto has indicated that the implementation of safe corridors between territories with a similar epidemiological situation is making it possible to assess the safety of the protocols: “We have to keep all alerts, but international visitors can now enjoy the Prado Museum, the beaches or our heritage cities ”. Lastly, he thanked the European collaboration in all areas in which it was necessary to give a coordinated response during this crisis, such as international purchases of medical equipment or return operations for visitors who were in Spanish territory at the beginning of the pandemic to countries of origin.
