Reyes Maroto transfers to the Spanish Association of Self-Service Distributors and Supermarkets (ASEDAS) the Government's recognition for their work during the COVID-19 crisis


At the meeting held with the Board of Directors of the Spanish Association of Distributors, Self-Services and Supermarkets (ASEDAS), Reyes Maroto positively valued the effort of businessmen and workers in the sector to guarantee the supply of the population during the state of alarm, as well as the incorporation of sanitary security measures and protocols in establishments to limit mobility and protect the health of employees and customers, within the framework of the instructions of the Ministry of Health.

The Minister also mentioned the CIS May Special Barometer data on consumption habits and trends, according to which 67.4% of the surveyed people affirm that they continue shopping in supermarkets, and 86.4% indicate that they have not changed the Previous regular purchase for cheaper products.

Lastly, he expressed the Government's support to the commercial and distribution sector as a whole, whose role will be key in reviving demand and maintaining security measures to prevent outbreaks of the pandemic.

The meeting is part of the series of meetings that the Minister has been holding during the state of alarm with representative associations of industry, commerce and tourism, in order to gradually evaluate the impact of the pandemic and agree on collaboration formulas during successive de-escalation phases.
