"There is a broad consensus with social entities to go one step further, with an additional set of measures that we will study on different fronts, such as prevention or taxation," he added.

Salvador Illa has explained that smoking will be one of the topics he will discuss in his next appearance at the Health Commission in Congress, in which he will detail the general lines of work in this legislature.

"The position of the Ministry is that new forms of smoking have to be regulated," said the minister. "There is scientific evidence that they are not healthy."

Salvador Illa recalled that Spain is the second longest country in the world, just behind Japan. "The challenge is that they are years with a good quality of life."
