The deputy of VOX in the General Meeting of the Principality, Sara Álvarez Rouco, this morning conveyed the Minister of Health during the appearance of the Working Group to follow up on COVID-19, the concern of the parliamentary group about the incidence that the pandemic could have on the population when Asturias is the area of Spain with the highest suicide rate. In this sense, the deputy has insisted on the need to implement measures that analyze the risks and anticipate the scenario that we may face in our region, as well as the reinforcement of the suicide plan. "We live in a situation that affects all areas of health, with a special impact on the psychological. For this reason, we understand that there could be a possibility of an upsurge in the number of cases that would further increase the suicide rate in our region. For this reason, there is an urgent need to work in this direction and prepare a protocol of action, ”says the deputy.
Also, Álvarez Rouco, has insisted on the lack of stock in shops in the region to acquire gloves and masks both by citizens and workers who next Monday will be able to return to their jobs. "We must guarantee the purchase of protection material by Health and we know that there are many problems in finding both products with the risk that this entails," says the deputy.
During the intervention, the deputy insisted on how the Health situation will be addressed, once the exceptional situation is overcome, the accumulated number of all pending health cases that further aggravate the situation prior to confinement, as well as what supplementary support they are to offer healthcare professionals to resolve the foreseeable avalanche in the Asturian healthcare system. "The underlying health problem," continues Álvarez Rouco, "is not going to solve itself. It is going to reproduce and it is going to be increased. This concern is already a clamor among Asturian professionals ”, emphasizes the deputy. In addition, during Question Time, he was interested in the details and criteria to be followed against the recent announcement by the central government to test 1,300 Asturians in a general study across the country.
