The VOX deputy in the General Meeting of the Principality, Sara Álvarez Rouco, has described the economic panorama of Asturias as "critical". "Health and the economy must go hand in hand, a reality that the regional government does not want to see but that the data we observe every month shows us that we are not wrong." Thus the deputy has referred to the unemployment data -9,642 unemployed more than a year ago-, the fall of 5% of GDP in interannual data for the third quarter with an estimate of 12% by the end of the year does not give much margin for triumphalism. All this, he points out, leads to the economic slowdown ”.
But also, during his speech, he reminded the Minister of Industry, Economic Promotion and Employment, Enrique Fernández, that “during the period 2000 to 2020 of the socialist government, the debt has increased from 605 million euros to 4,976 million euros, or whatever it is the same, -he points out-, from 568 euros to 4,878 euros per capita, and they are determined to continue in this dynamic of increasing deficit and debt. Interest and debt repayments already account for 12% of the budget, 570 million Euros that will not reach the pockets of Asturians, many of whom are in a state of economic poverty, specifically 252,000 ”.
"Only 4% of the total budget is allocated to the productive sectors that create wealth and employment in our autonomous community. Meanwhile, Álvarez Rouco continues-, they allocate 12% to pay interest and amortization of debt, the result of their excessive and uncontrolled spending since they govern the region. Between education, health, social policies and debt service, they eat up 83% of the budget, so they leave practically no margin to strengthen the growth of our economy ”.
For this reason, the deputy has asked the regional government to enunciate concrete measures that are destined to improve the situation of all our business fabric ”. With all this panorama, the conclusion is clear, “we are going to have serious cash flow problems. In other words, there will be no money available and unfortunately they only have to entrust our entire future to aid from the European Union, undoubtedly a management disaster ”.
Finally, Álvarez Rouco has indicated that “saving lives is something that we all want, but that when you are in charge of a government, it is insufficient intention to achieve the objectives of well-being and economic viability that every balanced society should aspire to achieve. Save lives, yes, but also save the economic situation of Asturians ”, concludes the deputy.
