More than 29,000 marijuana plants have been seized in the towns of Requena and Yátova, weighing more than 1,300 kilograms and having a market value of more than 6,600,000 euros
The detainees cleared the area and cut down native trees to carry out their purposes and used the water from the nearby rivers to irrigate the plantation.
The Civil Guard, within the CAMPERS operation, has arrested 5 men, of Albanian nationality, for drug trafficking offenses, belonging to a criminal organization and against the environment in the towns of Requena and Yátova in Valencia.
The operation began last June, when the Civil Guard learned of a possible marijuana plantation in a district belonging to the municipality of Requena. Two days later, agents seized more than 6,500 marijuana plants in the village of Hortunas. The plantation was located in an area with difficult access, surrounded by undergrowth and large trees that made it easy to hide.
The next plantation, with similar characteristics to the previous one, was discovered by the researchers the following month in the town of Yátova. A total of 22,000 marijuana plants were seized.
The Civil Guard then arrested 4 men, of Albanian nationality, for the alleged crimes of drug trafficking, belonging to a criminal organization and against the environment.
In addition, a search was made in the town of Alborache and they seized two vehicles valued at 62,000 euros, five mobile phones, various solar panels, batteries, suction pumps, fertilizers, 110 kilograms of marijuana buds packaged and prepared for sale, tools and a large number of electronic means for plant care.
Subsequently, a fifth man was arrested in the district of Los Isidros for the same crimes and a third outdoor plantation was located with more than 600 marijuana plants.
This criminal organization used for its plantations about 10,000 square meters of plots located in areas far from the population centers and difficult to access. The authors did not hesitate to clear the area and cut down native trees to carry out their purposes and use the water from the nearby rivers to irrigate the plantation.
Likewise, these individuals had built camps, close to the plots, to stay. They used butane bottles to cook in the middle of the forest. Agents also found generator sets that were buried in pockets to avoid being seen from the air and minimize engine noise. Likewise, these generators pumped water into ponds that they managed to manufacture to supply the plantation.
The CAMPERS operation, has been carried out by agents of the Roca Team and the Investigation Area of the Main Post of the Requena Civil Guard and by the Citizen Security Unit of the Valencia Command, has resulted in a total of 5 detainees , four of them have entered prison, more than 29,000 marijuana plants intervened weighing more than 1,300 kilograms and a market value of more than 6,600,000 euros.
The proceedings have been delivered to the Court of First Instance and Instruction number 1 of Requena. The operation remains open and further arrests are not ruled out.
