The minister of Science, Innovation and Acting Universities, Pedro Duque, and the Minister of Higher Education of Cuba, José Ramón Saborido, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for Educational and Scientific Collaboration between both countries in Havana.

This agreement will increase relations in the field of Higher Education and will promote joint scientific research and mutual exchange of researchers.

The memorandum signed by both ministers contemplates, in the field of Higher Education, the exchange of methodological experiences, programs, textbooks, pedagogical publications and materials on the development of sciences, as well as the transmission of knowledge in the field of teaching. It also includes the establishment of direct links of collaboration between higher education institutions and other research centers.

In the scientific area, it plans to promote the mutual exchange of scientists and researchers, joint scientific research, the exchange of experiences and the organization of conferences of mutual interest. The content and conditions of cooperation will be agreed upon by the interested institutions of the two countries.

Pedro Duque has also met with the rectors of the University of Havana, the Technological University of Havana, the University of Pedagogical Sciences 'Enrique José Varona', the University of Computer Science and the University of Physical Culture Sciences and the Sport.

During his visit to the University of Havana, he also had a meeting with Cuban cosmonaut Arnaldo Tamayo, professors and students, where he explained the spatial plans of the European Space Agency.

Today he will meet with the Minister of Science, Technology and Environment, Elba Rosa Pérez Montoya, and visit the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology.
