- The agency grants aid Starting Grant 19 researchers working in Spain
- They are aids for doctors who have up to seven years of experience
The European Research Council (ERC) will finance more than 28 million euros to 19 researchers working in Spain, being the sixth country receiving aid Starting Grant, within the Horizon 2020 research and innovation program. Germany is ahead with 61 researchers, United Kingdom with 59, France with 26, Holland with 29 and Switzerland with 20.
In total, the ERC will finance 325 researchers from 23 countries and will receive an average aid of 1.5 million euros, a total of 485 million euros to carry out their research.
Of the total of 19 projects funded in Spain, 13 are from the area of Physical Sciences and Engineering, 5 from Social Sciences and Humanities and 1 from the Life Sciences area.
The Starting Grant They are aimed at excellent researchers who have a postdoctoral experience of between 2 and 7 years. In this call are: Raúl Angulo (Center for Physics Studies of the Cosmos of Aragon), Gemma Boleda Torrent (Pompeu Fabra University), Paula Bustos (Center for Monetary and Financial Studies), Cristina Canal (Polytechnic University of Catalonia), José Manuel Castro Tubio (University of Vigo), Luis Diestre (Business Institute), Johannes Feist (Autonomous University of Madrid), Alberto Fernández Tejada (CIC Biogune), Carlos Gómez Rodríguez (University of A Coruña), Alexey Gotsman (IMDEA Software Institute), Tobias Koch (Carlos III University of Madrid), Eduardo Lee (CIC Nanogune), Gabriel Lozano (Higher Council for Scientific Research), Carlos Martí-Gastaldo (University of Valencia), Alexandre Ponrouch (Higher Council for Scientific Research), Giacomo Antonio Maria Ponzetto (Center for International Economy Research), Jelena Radjenovic (Catalan Institute for Water Research), Javier Ramón (Bioengineering Institute of Catalonia) and Xevi Roca (Barcelona Supercomputing center – National Supercomputing Center).
