The presence of women in the three Spanish public administrations continues to grow in global terms. The sum of 1,459,918 women in the three administrations already represents a number of 324,261 (12.5%) higher than that of men, totaling 1,135,657.
The growing trend continues, because the latest promotions, in many bodies, continue to register that ascending female presence both among applicants and among selected.
Autonomous Communities: women are more than double than men
The public sector of the autonomous communities, with 1,499,304 troops, has the highest female presence in number and percentage with respect to the male presence: 1,011,661 are women (67.47%) and 487,643 men (32 , 52%).
The number of women is more than double the number of men. It must be taken into account that the Autonomous Communities manage transferred services, such as education and health, where the female presence is very important.
Local Corporations: practically balanced presence
Local corporations with 582,317 troops practically have the same number: 289,205 (49.66%) women and 293,112 men (50,33)
General State Administration: virtually balanced presence
The same is true in the General State Administration (which is the state public sector without Armed Forces or State Security Forces and Bodies), where there is also a balance between the number of women and men: 231,760 troops, of which 112,897 (48.71%) are women and 118.863 men (51.28%).
Of the strictly personnel of the ministries, that is, without autonomous bodies, public business entities, etc., with the latest data corresponding to 2019, the number of troops is 93,300, also registering a certain feminine and masculine balance, with 46,126 women (49, 44%) and 47,174 men (50.56%). In addition, there are ministries where the number of women far exceeds that of men, a trend that is also growing.
